SOMERSET, NJ - Police are investigating a Monday morning crash that sent a local juvenile to an area  hospital with serious injuries. 

The unidentified 11-year old was hit crossing Franklin Boulevard while walking to school, police say. The unidentified driver of the vehicle stayed on the scene and cooperated with police. 

 "The juvenile was crossing Franklin Boulevard westbound in or near the crosswalk, at the intersection of Holly Street when he was struck by a vehicle," said Somerset County Prosecutor Michael H. Robertson.

Detectives from the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office Collision Analysis Reconstruction Team also responded to conduct an investigation in conjunction with the Franklin Township Police Department. 

The victim is listed in critical condition, according to police. The investigation is ongoing.
