Haunts & History: Somerset County Libraries Host Halloween Program

HILLSBOROUGH, NJ -  The leaves are changing color, apples are ready for picking, and pumpkins are preparing to be transformed into jack-o-lanterns.

Four Somerset County Library System of New Jersey branches will be hosting Halloween programs in October:

Hollowed Harvest Tales: Chilling Stories & Songs for the Season (families & children ages 10+), Oct. 12, 7-8:30 p.m. at SCLSNJ's Hillsborough Library branch, located at 379 S. Branch Road:

Ken Galipeau will weave stories with folk and bluegrass music, enticing all who attend to participate in this seasonal music celebration.

East Coast Ghosts (adults), Oct. 18, 7-8 p.m. at SCLSNJ's Bound Brook Memorial Library branch, located at 402 E. High St. Author Carlotta Holton will present a variety of stories from Salem, MA to Savannah, GA, including The Ghost of Giles Corey, The Ghost of Jerusha Howe, and the Secret Drawer Society at Longfellow’s Wayside Inn.

Ghostly Tales and Legends from the Somerset Hills (adults), Oct. 29, 2-3:30 p.m. at SCLSNJ's Bridgewater Library branch, located at 1 Vogt Drive. Gordon Thomas Ward, author, musician, presenter, and co-star of an upcoming television series about paranormal encounters, will share Halloween stories from the Somerset Hills and surrounding area.

Ghosthunting New Jersey & New York City (adults), Oct. 29, 2-4 p.m., at SCLSNJ's Manville Library branch, located at 100 S. 10th Ave. in Manville. L'Aura Hladik Hoffman, Founder & Director NJ Ghost Hunters Society, details the history and haunts of Jersey and The Big Apple.
