SOMERVILLE, NJ – Freeholder Patricia Walsh and members of the Somerset County Commission on the Status of Women recently presented a check for $1,000 to Safe+Sound Somerset, a Hillsborough organization that protects and advocates for victims of domestic violence.
Its service area includes all of Somerset County.
The funding is part of the proceeds from the annual Outstanding Women in Somerset County awards dinner held in March.
In May, the commission presented a check in the same amount to the Franklin-based Center for Great Expectations, which assists homeless, pregnant or parenting, adult women and adolescents and their children.
The SCCSW serves as an advisory board to the Board of Chosen Freeholders to address present and potential needs of women and to develop a greater public awareness of women’s issues.
