SOMERVILLE, NJ  - The downtown retail and restaurant district along West Main Street continues to undergo a transformation as new businesses open, existing businesses change addresses and old, tired buildings undergo renovation and restoration.

Workers continue to gut the interior of 15 West Main St., a century-old brick building, renovating the ground floor retail space and residential space on the two upper floors. Gimme Gimme Tees had occupied the retail space and has since moved to 12 East Main St.

Across the street, at 30 West Main Street, plumbers and electricians have begun work on the 2.200-square foot street-level space that will be the new location of Provident Bank, now located at 62 West Main St. The space had formally been occupied by GoRyde Indoor Cycling and Fitness Studio.

Just a few doors down next to TD Bank, Kuay Tiew Noodles and More, a Thai restaurant at 42 West Main St., will open soon in the space formally occupied by Gabriela's Portuguese Cuisine. A "Help Wanted" sign is taped to the front door.

The Salad House, featuring a menu of specialty sandwiches, wraps, salads, panini and flat bread pizza, hopes to open at 58 West Main St. before the end of the year in the space most recently occupied by the state headquarters of the Jack Ciattarelli for Governor campaign.
