SOMERVILLE, NJ - The Somerset County Department of Health on Thursday reported a total of 5,708 cases of the COVID-19 coronavirus, an increase of 24 cases overnight, with the death toll at 518 since the first case was reported March 8.
Somerville has had a total of 179 COVID-19 cases since March, with a total of 7 COVID-19 related deaths.
The New Jersey Department of Health Thursday reported a total of 224,385 positive cases of the coronavirus since the pandemic began its spread in the state 233 days ago, and a total of 14,474 deaths during that time, an increase of 18 overnight. There have been 4,297,612 COVID-19 tests administered in New Jersey.
The number of COVID-19 cases worldwide is now 41,734,887 including 1,139,647 deaths, according to the federal Centers for Disease Control & Prevention on Thursday morning, with 8,607,785 cases in the United States and 227,696 deaths.
The SCDOH has confirmed the deaths of 159 Franklin Township residents; 78 in Hillsborough/Millstone; 76 in Bridgewater; 42 in Bernards Township; 37 in North Plainfield; 32 in Green Brook; 14 in Watchung; 15 in Raritan; 13 in Bound Brook; 16 in Warren; 6 in Manville; 7 in Somerville; 6 in Montgomery; 6 in Branchburg; 4 in Bedminster; 3 in Bernardsville; 3 in South Bound Brook and one in Peapack-Gladstone.
No COVID-19 deaths have been reported in Far Hills, Millstone or Rocky Hill.
