BRIDGEWATER, NJ - The Bridgewater Township Council has approved a resolution to continue an agreement with Somerville for a shared municipal court for another three years.
Somerville Municipal Court sessions will continue to be held in Bridgewater, but each municipality maintains separate court functions. Somerville will reimburse Bridgewater Township for all costs associated with Somerville’s court functions.
According to the resolution, Bridgewater is receiving $201,854.43 for the past year’s shared service.
“I feel the revenue is adequate for the services we are providing,” James Naples, township administrator said in response to a question from Bridgewater council member Filipe Pedroso.
“The service has gone off seamlessly,” Naples added. “I haven’t heard any complaints on either side. This is an excellent opportunity for us where we can provide a service and take in additional revenue.”
