SOMERVILLE, NJ - For the third straight year, the Somerville High School Pioneers football team has advanced to the NJSIAA Group 3 Finals with a convincing 53-23 win at home over Seneca Friday night.

The Pioneers were dominant on the ground and in the air, scoring on their first possession and never looking back.

The 10-1 Pioneers led 32-16 at the half.

Quarterback Justin Brenner threw for 261 yards and 3 TDS on 10/16 passing, while running back Cookie Desederio had 19 carries for 17 yards, scoring two times.

Kyree Hinton was on the receiving end of two TD passes from Brenner, with Jaiman Bryant pulling in another. Bryant scored his second touchdown on a 75-yard punt return.

Will McIntyre added a defensive touchdown with a 30-yard interception.

Last week the Pioneers defeated Absegami 37-7 to advance to the semi-final game against Seneca. The Pioneers will play the winners of Saturday's other semi-final  game between Holmdel and Woodrow Wilson of Camden.
