Somerville OEM Warns Residents of High Winds, Potential for Downed Wires


SOMERVILLE, NJ - The National Weather Service has issued a HIGH WIND WARNING for our area effective midnight tonight through noon on Sunday.

Winds will increase rapidly late this evening and overnight. Sustained winds will be near 30 mph overnight and Sunday. Wind gusts will range from 50-55 mph with a few gusts as high as 60 mph possible around sunrise Sunday.

Wind gusts of this strength may result in downed trees and wires leading to power outages.

The Somerville Office of Emergency Management reminds you to only call 9-1-1 for wind damage that can potentially impact your heath and safety or the health and safety of the community.

All downed wires are a potential threat so please report them by calling 9-1-1. Do not call 9-1-1 for power outages. If you sustain a power outage call PSEG at either 1-800-436-PSEG (7734) or 1-800-880-PSEG (7734)
