PLAINFIELD, NJ - The fifth anniversary of the fatal shooting of a Green Brook in Plainfield on Christmas morning five years ago remains unsolved.

Investigators continue to seek information from the public hoping to solve the crime, according to acting Union County Prosecutor Michael A. Monahan.

There have been no charges filed to date in connection with the death of 25-year-old Rashad Daye of Green Brook.

At approximately 5:30 a.m. on Christmas morning, Wednesday, Dec, 25, 2013, a Plainfield Police Division officer heard multiple shots fired in the area of Park Avenue and East Ninth Street in Plainfield, according to the investigation. Arriving patrol units found Daye suffering from a gunshot wound, and he was rushed to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick, where he was pronounced dead.

An intensive joint investigation into the death of Daye was launched by the Union County Homicide Task Force and the Plainfield Police Division. That investigation is continuing and considered active.
