SOMERVILLE, NJ – A South Bound Brook man wanted in connection with the sexual assault of a juvenile girl has been arrested in Pennsylvania, according to Somerset County Prosecutor Michael H. Robertson.
Pennsylvania State Troopers tracked down Hector C. Suarez, 32, of South Bound Brook at a motel in Monroe County and apprehended the suspect when he tried to escape through a window at the rear of the building, according to Robertson.
Robertson provided the following account:
Police in South Bound Brook Police received a report on Jan. 28 that the victim, under the age of 14 and known to Suarez, had been sexually assaulted by the suspect.
Following an investigation by detectives from the South Bound Brook Police Department and the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office Sex Crimes and Child Abuse Unit, Suarez was charged with one count of 1st degree, aggravated sexual assault; Robertson said the suspect fled New Jersey after learning of the charge.
Suarez was placed into the National Crime Information Center database (NCIC) as a wanted person on Jan. 30, and Pennsylvania authorities were notified.
Suarez was apprehended by Pennsylvania State Troopers assigned to the Swiftwater barracks in Monroe County on Feb. 17 after Corporal Christopher Bonin spotted a car belonging to Suarez parked at a Milford Road motel, in Smithfield, PA.
Suarez is lodged in the Monroe County Correctional Facility pending extradition proceedings to New Jersey.
