Woman's Body Found on Route 22 Median

SOMERVILLE, N.J. - An autopsy is being performed on the body of a woman found on the center median of Route 22 in Branchburg Wednesday afternoon near the Route 28 intersection as police try to piece together the details surrounding her death.

Somerset County Prosecutor Michael H. Robertson provided the following account:

Branchburg Police received a phone call at 1:22 p.m. about the body, drove to the location and secured the area as a crime scene.

Detectives from the Branchburg Township Police Department and Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office were assisted in the on-site investigation by the FBI and personnel from the New Jersey Northern Regional Medical Examiner’s Office, where the autopsy is being performed.

Police have not released a description of the woman, how long the body might have been on the median, or any other details.
