MANVILLE, NJ - Valairco Heating and Cooling is celebrating 50 years of serving the central New Jersey area and beyond. Kevin McHugh, owner and third generation of this family run business, takes pride in a job well done and Valairco’s commitment to providing the best value around through stellar workmanship, industry leading warranties, and affordable prices and maintenance packages. McHugh was instrumental in forging Valairco with innovative customer programs to meet 21st century needs.

McHugh is the nephew of Valairco founder Richard Valenti. He is a resident of Berkeley Heights and Gov. Livingston High School alumnus and graduate of Somerset Technical Institute. He has been working in the family business since his summer apprentice days and took a full time role in 1988.

Valairco was founded 50 years ago by Richard Valenti with the help of his father Joseph, who is credited with developing some of the basic methodologies and fundamentals of the air conditioning industry.

As a young engineer, Joseph worked with Dr. Willis Carrier, who invented the first modern air-conditioning system that debuted at the Rivoli Theater in Times Square in 1925. In the 1930's, air conditioning spread to department stores, offices and slowly to residential homes. Joseph was a graduate of The Cooper Union with a Mechanical Engineering Degree, and at that time, there were less than 100 people in the entire air conditioning industry, said Richard.

Richard grew up around the industry, graduated Summit High School and received his Civil Engineering degree from Newark College of Engineering [NJIT]. He worked as a systems engineer. In the 1960s, with only 10 percent of the residential air conditioning market saturated, Richard recognized the opportunity in the communities closer to his Berkeley Heights home.

In the beginning, Joseph was the design engineer, Richard was the sales engineer, and a third person handled the production and service. They grew to be a leader in residential and small business HVAC -- known for taking pride in a job well done. Their customers' reviews are a testament to their satisfaction. "We've been honored as a Best of Home Advisor winner in 2018 and as an Angie's List Super Service Award Winner three years running," said Richard.

Many satisfied customers measure Valairco's success through their industry-leading warranties, affordable pricing and maintenance packages. "Our Comfort Plus Guarantee on new installations gives customers peace of mind with a five-year warranty on parts and labor and the option to extend it an additional five years at a reasonable rate," said McHugh.

Although Richard, now 80 years old, has passed the torch to McHugh, he maintains an active daily role in the business. Visit the Valairco website or call 855-661-3300 to learn more about their services and Exclusive Comfort Plus Warranty Program.
