SOMERVILLE, NJ - The borough offered visitors a triple header of entertainment and diversions on Saturday - a visit from Gov. Phil Murphy, a lively Oktoberfest celebration and a giant Sidewalk Sale sponsored by the Downtown Somerville Alliance with bargains up and down Main Street.

Murphy spent 70 minutes walking up and down Main Street, popping in to visit several merchants and posing for pictures with surprised shoppers, who took time out from searching through the boxes, bins, tabletops and clothing racks in front of merchants' stores.

The 7th annual Oktoberfest hosted by Project P.U.B. and Tapastre drew thousands to sample a variety of beers from smaller craft breweries in New Jersey and other states.
