SOMERVILLE, NJ - TD Bank, one of the ten largest bank corporations in the United States, has announced it will close its Main Street branch office effective Nov. 15th.
Located at 50 West Main St. in the turn-of-the-century building formerly occupied by Somerset Trust Company, TD Bank, which markets itself as "America's Most Convenient Bank," informed depositors of the closure in an Aug. 13 letter; employees at the bank were informed of the decision the day before. Those employees will be shifted to other TD Bank locations.
There are no outward signs of the impending closure on the bank's windows, plate glass doors or inside the lobby.
The full-service bank is frequented by hundreds of customers, including dozens of small business owners and downtown merchants. It is within easy walking distance of stores and restaurants up and down Main Street. It is one of several banks located on Main Street, including Wells Fargo and Provident.
Other banks in the 2.5 square mile borough include Bank of America, Chase Bank, Fulton Bank, Santander Bank, Somerset Savings Bank and Unity Bank
