HILLSBOROUGH, NJ – Michael Callahan has bee appointed the new director of Human Resources for the township's school district.
He was was unanimously approved by the Hillsborough Board of Education at the June 10th meeting and will begin his new position with the district on July 2, 2019.
Callahan has been with Hillsborough Township Public Schools since July 2015, serving as the District Supervisor of Visual/Performing Arts and related areas. While in the district supervisor role, Callahan oversaw the curriculum, instruction, and staffing of all related arts across the district’s nine schools. He also worked collaboratively with the members of the curriculum and
instruction department to create and implement a comprehensive professional development program for staff members throughout the district.
“Serving this community has been a true privilege,” Callahan said. “I am extremely proud of the work we do and elated to expand my role with Hillsborough Township Public Schools.”
Prior to joining Hillsborough, Callahan worked at Somerville Public Schools as Director of Chorus & Drama and the Exploratory Team Teacher. In addition to Callahan’s teaching and team leader duties, he was also the Founding Director of Somerville Public School’s Summer Performing Arts Camp, a highly attended full-day program.
Callahan studied Music Education at the Eastman School of Music, University of Rochester. He also holds a Master of Arts in Educational Administration from Caldwell College, a certificate in Education Technology from The College of New Jersey, and is working towards completing his Doctorate in Educational Leadership from the College of Saint Elizabeth this summer.
