WHIPPANY, NJ – “Preparing the Next Global Servant Leader” is this year’s theme for the Essex County Chapter of the Links, Incorporated’s ~ 2019 Debutante Leadership Program and 14th Biennial Emerald & Ivory Debutante Cotillion
Anisa Soleil Williams, a Somerville High School student and resident of Branchburg, is one of 20 girls selected from seven New Jersey counties to participate in the program, which has been offered every other year, for the past 27 years, by invitation only, to outstanding high school junior and senior girls in New Jersey, who have demonstrated academic excellence and a commitment to community service.
Debutantes* participate in educational, cultural, social and community service activities, and weeks of dance rehearsals with their escorts and fathers.
The 2019 Debutante Leadership Program began in February and will culminate on Dec. 8th in a formal cotillion; the 14th Biennial Emerald and Ivory Debutante Cotillion will be held from 3-7 p.m.at the Hanover Marriott Hotel, 1401 Route 10 East in Whippany.
The Links, Incorporated is an international, not-for-profit corporation, established in 1946. The membership consists of nearly 14,000 professional women of color in 284 chapters located in 41 states, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of the Bahamas and the United Kingdom. It is one of the nation’s oldest and largest volunteer service organizations of women who are committed to enriching, sustaining and ensuring the culture and economic survival of African Americans and other persons of African ancestry. Essex County (NJ) Chapter, The Links, Incorporated was established in 1986.
