SOMERVILLE, NJ. - Multiple law enforcement agencies since May have been assisting the US Postal Inspection Service investigating suspicious packages being shipped to New Jersey from California, leading to the arrest of 5 suspects and the seizure of 18 pounds of marijuana with an estimated street value of $47,000, according to Somerset County Prosecutor Michael H. Robertson.

Four of the suspects are from South Bound Brook, all with an Edgewood Terrace address - ,Victor I. Chihimie, 22;, Madisson R. Holloway, 22;  Jahden I. Chihimie, 19 and Kyle S. Gordon, 22. The fifth suspect is Angelo D. Hinojosa, 20, of Perry Road in Annandale.

The investigation began in May after Victor I.Chihimie was pulled over in his car by Hackensack Police for a traffic violation; his vehicle was searched, and police recovered a quantity of THC cartridges and three clear vacuum-sealed bags containing marijuana in a five-gallon black bucket, according to Robertson. Police determined the suspect had been receiving multiple suspicious packages at the Edgewood Terrace address, he added.

Members of the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office Organized Crime and Narcotics Task Force along with members of the Hackensack Police Department and the United States Postal Inspection Service were conducting a narcotic investigation into suspicious packages being shipped from California to South Bound Brook and Annandale when the arrest was made, according to Robertson.

Robertson provided the following additional information:

The US Postal Inspection Service determined that since July of 2019, 18 suspicious packages had been shipped from California o the Edgewood Terrace address. The Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office Organized Crime and Narcotics Task Force were contacted to assist in the investigation. Subsequently, two suspicious packages were intercepted by the United States Postal Inspection Service. The second package was intended to be delivered to a residence on Perry Road in Annandale with a return address of the Edgewood Terrace residence in South Bound Brook.

 Bound Brook Police Department K-9 “Crusader” conducted an exterior sniff of the two suspicious packages intercepted and gave a positive indication for the presence of narcotics.

On June 8agents with the United States Postal Inspection Service determined that Victor I. Chihimie retrieved a package on Edgewood Terrace in South Bound Brook while Hinojsa retrieved a package from Perry Road in Annandale.

Prosecutor's detectives obtained search warrants for both residences.

Task Force members, along with the Hunterdon County Prosecutor’s Office Narcotics Team, Clinton Township Police Department, South Bound Brook Police Department, Bound Brook Police Department and Hackensack Police Department executed the Superior Court search warrants at the residences at Edgewood Terrace and Perry Road.

Victor I. Chihimie, Jahden I. Chihimie, Madisson R. Holloway and Kyle S. Gordon were located inside the residence on Edgewood Terrace in South Bound Brook and were subsequently arrested without incident. A search of the residence revealed 13 pounds of marijuana, drug paraphernalia and $3,562 in cash.

Hinoiosa was inside the Perry Road residence when the search warrant was executed. He was arrested without incident. Police found five marijuana, drug paraphernalia and $1,968.00.

Victor I. Chihimie, Madisson Holloway and Jahden I. Chihimie were each charged with Possession of Marijuana with the Intent to Distribute in an amount over five (5) pounds but less than twenty-five (25) pounds (2nd Degree), Maintaining and/or Operating a Drug Production Facility (1st Degree), Possession of Marijuana with the Intent to Distribute within 500 feet of a Public Park (2nd Degree), Possession of Marijuana with the Intent to Distribute Marijuana within 1,000 feet of an Elementary School (3rd Degree), and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia (Disorderly Persons Offense).

Hinojosa was charged with Possession of Marijuana with the Intent to Distribute in an amount over five (5) pounds but less than twenty-five (25) pounds (2nd Degree), Maintaining and/or Operating a Drug Production Facility (1st Degree) and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia (Disorderly Persons Offense).

Gordon was charged with Possession of Marijuana under 50 grams (Disorderly Persons Offense) and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia (Disorderly Persons Offense). Defendant Gordon was issued a Summons Complaint and released on his own recognizance pending a first appearance court date.

Victor I. Chihimie, Jahden, Chihimie, Holloway and Hinojosa are lodged in the Somerset County Jail pending a bail detention hearing.
