FRANKLIN TOWNSHIP, NJ - Seven suspects have been arrested and six pounds of marijuana seized following a month-long investigation into a drug distribution network, according to Somerset County Prosecutor Michael H. Robertson.

The suspects are all charged with Possession with Intent to Distribute Marijuana (2rd degree) and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia (Disorderly Persons), Robertson said. All are released on their own recognizance pending a court hearing.

Luis Ramirez, 25, Park Street, Somerset;

Elvis Pena, 23, Fulton Street, New Brunswick;

Jhonathan Peralta, 23, Rutgers Street, New Brunswick;

Jose Marquez-Jimenez, 25, Phillips Road, Somerset;

Mahmoud Hassan Jr.,24, Castleton Avenue, Somerset;

Taron Marner, 24, Hunt Road, Somerset;

Vanessa Nettles, 23, Vernon Avenue, Somerset.

Robertson provided the following account:

The Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office Organized Crime and Narcotics Task Force executed a search warrant after wrapping up a month-long investigation into the distribution of narcotics by Ramirez from a residence located on Park Street in Somerset on June 17th. Assisting were officers with the Franklin Township Police Department and Bound Brook Police Department K-9 Crusader.

Six pounds of marijuana with a street value of $12,000 and various items of drug paraphernalia, to include digital scales and packaging materials were seized.
