SOMERVILLE, NJ - A familiar face to all throughout town, borough Police Officer Vito Spadea is tasked with reaching out to young students, senior citizens, residents and those who come to town to work or take advantage of the growing list of restaurants and other attractions downtown.

As the police department's Community Relations officer, "Officer Vito" visits classrooms to work with students, has been DJ at the annual "night Out" celebration in early summer, programs the summer Police Academy for Middle School students, and sometimes patrols the streets on a bicycle.

On Friday, he put on an apron and served beverages and pastries at the Main Street Starbucks, doing his part to reach out to patrons as part of the annual "Coffee with a Cop" program, dedicated to fostering good relations between local police departments and the community.

All in a day's work.
