The first Coffee with a Cop Day took place across the nation in 2016, modeled after the first Coffee with a Cop Day hosted by the Hawthorne Police Department in California in 2011.

The face-to-face interaction encourages police and members of the public to get to know one another, and foster appreciation and understanding of the challenges faced by police officers on the streets.
