FRANKLIN TOWNSHIP, NJ - A 40-year-old man has been arrested and charged with a variety of sexual assault offenses against two juveniles under 16 who were playing on a swing set at a backyard party, according to Somerset County Prosecutor Michael H. Robertson.

Francisco Leal-Ibarra, 40 of French Street, New Brunswick, has been charged with one count of 2nd degree Sexual Assault by contact, two counts of 3rd degree Endangering the Welfare of a Child, and one count of 4th degree Criminal Sexual Contact, according to Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office Chief of County Detectives John W. Fodor and Franklin Township Public Safety Director Quovella M. Spruill, who said the suspect inappropriately touched both victims.The suspect is being held at Somerset County Jail pending a bail detention hearing.

Robertson said the two separate assaults occurred at the party on Aug. 8 and were subsequently reported to the Franklin Township Police Department.

Detectives from the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office Sex Crimes and Child Abuse Unit along with the Franklin Township Police Department conducted an investigation which included numerous interviews; Leal-Ibarra was identified as the individual who had inappropriately touched both victims. He was taken into custody on Thursday, Aug.13 without incident.
