PISCATAWAY, NJ – Weary travelers will have a new place to rest and fuel up when they visit Piscataway on business or for a Rutgers’ game.

Plans are underway for a new hotel, convenience store and gas station complex to be built at 88 Centennial Ave., the former home to telecommunications firm, WANDL.

“It will be a named franchise, but we don’t know which one yet,” said Mayor Brian Wahler during the Township Council Zoom conference call earlier this week when members approved an amended redevelopment plan for the five-acre site.

The new township ordinance calls for the proposed hotel to be completely constructed and issued a Certificate of Occupancy before certificates are issued for the convenience store and gas station.

Because of the current economic climate, Wahler said there is no word yet on when construction will begin at the property located where Centennial Avenue ends at River Road near the Route 287-Exit 9 interchange.
