SOMERVILLE, NJ - The number of COVID-19 related deaths in Somerset County increased to 61 overnight, with the overall death toll in New Jersey increasing to 1,700; there are 1,279 cases in Somerset County, according to statistics provided by the Somerset County Department of Health on Thursday afternoon.
There are now 40 cases in Somerville, an increase of 7 overnight, according to the SCDOH; Somerset County reported 133 new cases overnight.
The SCDOH has confirmed the deaths of 16 Franklin Township residents; 13 in Bridgewater; 8 in North Plainfield residents; 7 in Green Brook, 3 in Bernards Township, 4 in Hillsborough, 2 in Warren, 2 in Watchung.and one each in Peapack-Gladstone, Bedminster, Bernardville, Bound Brook, Branchburg and Somerville.

Statewide, there is a total of 51,027 cases, an increase of 3,590 overnight, with the statewide death toll now at 1,700, an increase of 196 overnight, according to the state Department of Health.
There are 432,596 cases in the United States, with 14,897 deaths; worldwide, there are 1,506,936 cases and 90,057 deaths, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
