Former Somerset Prosecutor Geoffey Soriano Appointed Interim Park Director

BRIDGEWATER, NJ – Former Somerset County Prosecutor Geoffrey D. Soriano has been appointed Interim Somerset County Park Secretary/Director by the Somerset County Park Commissioners.

Soriano’s appointment is effective Monday, April 2. He will replace Raymond Brown who announced his retirement effective Tuesday, May 1, 2018. The announcement was made on the occasion of Brown's 25th anniversary as secretary/director of the Somerset County Park Commission.

Soriano will servce while a search is conducted for a permanent replacement. Soriano will be eligible to submit his credentials for the position.

Soriano, a Bridgewater resident, is an attorney who has served most recently as Assistant Attorney General at the New Jersey Division of Criminal Justice in Trenton. Prior to that he served as Somerset County Prosecutor for five years from 2011-16. He is a graduate of Brown University and Seton Hall University School of Law.

“Filling the shoes of Ray Brown will be an awesome task, but the Commissioners and I are convinced that Geoff has the experience, the vision, and the leadership ability to keep the Commission moving forward,”said Bill Crosby, president of the Park Commission,

Freeholder Mark Caliguire, liaison to the Park Commission, added, “Geoff Soriano is a man of many talents with great leadership qualities. Working with Ray will bring him up to speed on the day-to-day activities, after which he will be more than prepared to take on the leadership role while the search takes place.”

The Park Commission celebrated its 60th anniversary in 2016. Over that time the county parkland has grown to include 14,557 acres, 5 golf courses, an environmental center, horse stable and riding trails, a natural rock garden of several acres, lakes and streams, ball fields, award-winning gardens and other facilities which see more than 2 million visitors each year.
