SOMERVILLE, NJ - The 4th annual 5K Turkey Trot hosted by the Somerville Recreation Department kicks off at 9 a.m. Thanksgiving morning, Nov. 28th, with 1,000 or more runners expected to compete.

The staging area, start and finish line is adjacent to Engine Company No. 1, 170 E. Main Street at the corner of Veterans Memorial Drive.

All proceeds benefit Recreation Department programs. Runners are also asked to bring non-perishable food items to donate to the Somerset County Food Bank.  A list of the items needed is online at http://www.somersetfoodbank.org/donate

Registration begins at 7:45 a.m. The race begins at 9 a.m., with awards presented at 10 a.m.

The 3.16-mile course was designed by Jason Kraska, a member of the borough's Recreation Committee. The course winds through the eastern and southern streets of the borough. Parking is available at the parking deck located nearby at 59 Veterans Memorial Drive. Entrance is between Warren Street and Hamilton Street.

7:45 a.m .- Registration and Packet Pick-Up

9 a.m. - Race Start

10 a.m. - Awards

Individual awards categories include:  1st, 2nd and 3rd, Overall Male/Female Age Group; 1st, 2nd, 3rd, Male/Female 14 & Under; 15-19 years old; 20-29; 30-39; 40-49; 50-59; 60-69 and 70 years and older.

Team Awards include team with the Most Members and 1st Place Team based win with top 3 finishers
