BERKELEY HEIGHTS, NJ - The Governor Livingston football team was defeated by Somerville, 58-0, on Saturday.

The visiting Pioneers came into the game ranked sixth in the state, and they showcased their elite talent versus a banged up GL squad.

Somerville started scoring in the first quarter when Group 3 1st team offensive team member Jalahn Dabney scored via a 24-yard run. After a failed 2-point attempt, Somerville drove down the field again, this time resulting in a Robbie Fiorentino rushing touchdown.

The second quarter was rough for the Highlanders. Somerville scored three touchdowns, including a pick-six, a 54-yard pass from Dabney, and another 4-yard pass from Dabney, his third touchdown of the afternoon. After a field goal by Somerville, GL headed to the locker room down 45-0.

GL held the sixth-ranked team scoreless in the third quarter, but could not generate any points, leaving the scoreboard without change. In the fourth quarter, Somerville manufactured two touchdowns, making the final lopsided score 58-0.
