SOUTH BRUNSWICK, NJ - The combination of the Bears’ 13 hits and Tyler Burnham’s dominating performance on the mound resulted in a 4-0 win for East Brunswick. The Bears scored three runs in the fifth inning to take a comfortable lead and they were able to hold on for the rest of the game.

Senior Tyler Burnham had his best outing today against the South Brunswick Vikings. Burnham threw a no-hitter while only walking two batters and striking out 10. After a few early walks Burnham was able to settle down and dominate. Burnham only allowed three base runners the entire game.

The Bears had a few opportunities to score runs but it wasn’t until the fourth inning when they put up their first run. A lead off single by Junior Michael Falco followed by a walk for Junior David Bermudez put runners in scoring position. Then Junior Brandon Rosenthal put down a bunt for a single to load up the bases. A few batters later Senior Christian Shelley brought in one run off of a single.

The Bears only got one run in the fourth inning but the following inning they added some insurance runs. Junior Brad Edwards hit a single then advanced to second on an error. Then Tyler Burnham helped himself out by hitting a double into center field scoring another run. A few batters later Brandon Rosenthal came up to the plate with runners on first and second. On the first pitch of the at-bat Rosenthal hit a fly ball to center that was good enough for a base clearing triple.

After the fifth inning the Bears had a 4-0 lead, which was more than enough support for Tyler Burnham. In the final inning Burnham put down the Vikings with a quick 1-2-3 inning as the Bears win 4-0 over the Vikings.
