Washington, DC — Following an explosion in New York City that injured 29 and the discovery of several explosive devices in New Jersey and New York, Congresswoman Bonnie Watson Coleman (NJ-12) issued the following statement:
“I am deeply concerned by the incidents and discoveries of the past 48 hours. Many residents of my district rely on public transportation to take them to and from their jobs every day, and they want to know that their commutes are safe and secure. The identification of one of these devices along a rail line is especially disturbing.
“I’m grateful that the quick and dedicated work of local and federal law enforcement has led to the arrest of one suspect, and I pray that they are able to neutralize the threat to our communities soon. We all have a role to play here — these events remind us of just how important it is to say something if you see suspicious activity. Call your local police department, or dial 9-1-1 if there’s an emergency.”
