EAST BRUNSWICK, NJ - J. Alfred Prufrock ponders the question, "Dare I eat a peach?" Gregg Allman just tells us to flat out grab one. The peach! This was our featured fruit for this week's CSA #9 along with...
- eggplant (a couple of varieties) (made the parm last week, branching out to baba ganouj this week. Here's a coupon from Giamarese Farms.)
- cantaloupe (yummy and sweet on its own. Am I the only one who had a mom who put sugar on it?)
- Roma tomatoes (making some homemade Sunday sauce. It takes a while, but it's worth it.)
- zucchini and summer squash (We know that they are taking over the world, so let's just relax and deal with it. Acceptance brings peace. Here are some suggestions from The New York Times.)
The peaches? They are delicous on their own, too, but don't forget how wonderful they are in a bowl of cereal. Eat one plain and get that sticky peace juice on your face. Now THAT'S summer in New Jersey.
Lots of heat and sunshine this week. It's good to put a bit of it on the dinner table, too!
