EAST BRUNSWICK, NJ - Adding to the string of recent arrests for illegal possession of narcotics, the East Brunswick Police Department reports that an intoxicated driver on Ryders Lane near Dunhams Corner Road was carrying 71 packets of heroin.
On February 26, 2016 at approximately 4:15 in the afternoon, Patrolman Anthony DeSantis observed a vehicle driving unsafe and in a reckless manner. Ptl. DeSantis subsequently initiated a motor vehicle stop on the vehicle. While speaking with the driver, Walter Waddy a 41-year-old male from Spotswood, Ptl. DeSantis detected the odor of an alcoholic beverage emanating from within the vehicle. Waddy was asked to exit the vehicle for further investigationand was then was taken into custody for driving while intoxicated. During a search of his person, Waddy was found to be in possession of 71 bags of heroin in his jacket pocket.
He was then was transported to headquarters and charged with possession of heroin with intent to distribute, possession of heroin, possession of a controlled dangerous substance in a school zone and numerous motor vehicle summonses including driving while intoxicated, says a police rport issued today.
Waddy was transferred to the Middlesex County Adult Corrections Center in lieu of $30,000.00 bail.
