EAST BRUNSWICK, NJ - Councilman James Wendell will serve as the Chair of the newly-formed East Brunswick Township Redevelopment Agency, a panel formed by the administration of Mayor Brad Cohen to facilitate the re-visioning of the Route 18 South redevelopment zone. At the first meeting of the agency Wendell said that there is "an aggressive plan in place" to rebuild the sector which is currently studded with empty, underutilized, or outdated properties.
At this brief organizational meeting, Wendell was joined on the Agency by volunteer professionals Mirah Adah Becker, Michael Corona, Jason Friedman, Michael Lachs, and Allison Nagelberg. Councilman Sterley Stanley also joins Wendell on the Agency. East Brunswick's Economic Development Officer Jonathan Sternesky serves as Secretary. Township Tax Assessor Frank Colon is the Acting Executive Director.
Agency members also offered to serve on a review committee that will evaluate the qualifications, offerings, and costs of all professionals seeking to do business with the township. This group includes legal counsel, auditors, planners, and others who will become involved in the long-term planning for redevelopment.
