Springsteen Tends Bar for a Good Cause

TRYON, N.C. — In addition to the well-attended $380,000 Rolex Grand Prix CSI 5*, the Tryon International Equestrian Center (TIEC) hosted a fundraising event for Brooke USA on Saturday, Oct. 21. The event featured celebrity bartenders and a silent auction to benefit working horses, donkeys and mules in the poorest countries around the world.

Celebrity bartenders included New Jersey native, Jessica Springsteen.

The goal of the evening was to raise awareness and excitement about Brooke USA with fellow equestrians and community members. The venue was decorated in orange to represent Brooke USA and raise awareness of their global work helping working equines in poverty-stricken areas. Recently, Brooke USA raised over $98,000 to provide much-needed relief to the animals, who are a lifeline to their owners, in Bulle and Gedeb, Ethiopia.

USEF Network Re-Releases 2006 Hit Animal Planet Television Series, “Horse Power: Road to the Maclay”

Adding to its extensive on-demand library, the re-release of the 2006 Animal Planet hit television series, “Horse Power: Road to the Maclay” marks the first time USEF Network has carried a reality television series in its content library. The show kicked off on Nov. 9, and continues for the next six consecutive Thursdays, an episode will be released on the USEF Network, culminating in the season finale on Dec. 14.

Originally aired in February of 2006, the show developed a large fan following. The series follows junior equitation riders on their path to qualify for and compete in one of equitation’s most prestigious competitions, the Maclay National Championship at the National Horse Show in Lexington, Ky. A number of the stars from the show continue to compete and are successful in the sport, including Brianne Goutal, Maria Schaub, Frank and Stacia Madden, Chelsea Moss, Nikko Ritter, Andre Dignelli, Maggie McAlary, and more.

 “I was excited to hear the show was being re-released. I loved being a part of the series and it chronicled a time in my life I will cherish forever,” said Goutal, of New York City.

US Equestrian will be offering free fan memberships using promo code “HORSEPOWER” to those interested in watching the series and other live and on-demand content on the USEF Network.

Members Win Big in the Time to Ride Challenge Association Program

Over $6,500 in additional incentives awarded to members of organizations who participate by introducing new people to horses.

Many Groups Support Time To Ride Challenge

GEORGETOWN, Texas — The 2017 Time to Ride Challenge has concluded by awarding over 60 winning stables, clubs and businesses for successfully introducing new horse enthusiasts to riding. Breed and discipline organizations have partnered with Time to Ride to reward their members with even more cash and prizes for participating in the Challenge. 

Nineteen organizations awarded additional incentives for this year: the American Horse Council, American Quarter Horse Association, American Paint Horse Association, American Saddlebred Horse Association, Appaloosa Horse Club, Arabian Horse Association, Certified Horsemanship Association, Interscholastic Equestrian Association, Mustang Heritage Foundation, National Reining Horse Association, Pinto Horse Association of America, Paso Fino Horse Association, United States Equestrian Federation, United States Dressage Federation and the United States Pony Club. State horse councils included the Michigan State Horse Council, Wisconsin State Horse Council, Kentucky State Horse Council and the North Carolina State Horse Council.

Prizes awarded to the hosts who are active members of the participating organizations will win prizes such as $3,500 in cash, from the Arabian Horse Association, to trophy spurs, from the National Reining Horse Association. Hosts are eligible for these rewards by connecting the most new people to horses among their fellow association members. On top of the $100,000 cash and prizes available in the Time to Ride Challenge, the CAP organizations are contributing a combined total of over $6,500 worth of cash and rewards!

“The Time to Ride Challenge is an absolutely amazing program that is a great way for the entire horse community to work together to bring newcomers into our industry,” says Mikayla Boge, Director of Marketing for the Arabian Horse Association. “The added bonus of the Challenge Association Program portion of the Challenge is a terrific incentive for Association members to get involved and raise awareness of their breed, too.”

Rutgers Hikes Tuition, Student Fees for 2018-2019 Academic Year
