TRENTON, NJ - Governor Christie Christie pardoned Joseph M. Longo, a Morristown businessman who in June 2016, was convicted in Middlesex County of tampering with public records.

Longo was one of 10 people pardoned by the lame duck governor on Friday, December 22, and one of 29 people during the course of his governorship.

Longo is the owner of Longo Electric, which was contracts with government agencies across Middlesex County and New Jersey.

For example, the company had contracts with Somerset County, the Rahway Valley Sewerage Authority and the Middlesex County Utilities Authority.

Longo Electric has two offices in New Jersey, one in Linden and one in Wharton, with another office in New York City and another in Bensalem, PA.

Longo pleaded guilty in June 2016 to four counts of tampering with public records, and in October 2016, was sentenced to 24 month in prison.

The case was brought against Longo by Deputy Attorney General Jeffrey J. Manis.

Longo’s defense was private attorney Jeffrey S. Chiesa, a former law partner of David Samson in the Wolff & Samson law firm. A former Chairman of the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, Samson became embroiled in the Bridgegate scandal and eventually resigned from his post.

Chiesa was picked by Governor Christie in November 2016 to oversee the controversial state takeover of Atlantic City, served in the US Senate in 2013 for five months after Frank Lautenberg's death, and served as the NJ Attorney General in 2012 and 2013.

Longo's Facebook profile features a picture of him in a group photo with Christie, Pam Sherman Longo and Mary Pat Christie at MetLife Stadium in September 2014.

The Truth About My Reading

The Truth About My Reading

I didn't get my Composition and Literature teacher at Montclair State College at all. A crusty old man with a dour disposition, Mr. Smith always seemed angry and rude. He appropriately intimidated freshmen, even me, an English major, who found this common core course beneath my dignity. Frankly, as a graduate of Highland Park High School, and a survivor of Mrs.
