Memo to National Steeplechase Association trophy engravers:

The correct spelling of the winners' names of the major races over the jumps the first weekend of November  is 'Zanjabeel', 'Ebanour' and 'Mercoeur.'

Zanjabeel earned the biggest check for his new owners, Rosbrian Farm and Benjamin and Wendy Giswold, when he won a home stretch duel over Ice It in the $75,000 AFLAC Supreme for novice horses, the featured race at Callaway Gardens in Pine Mountain, Ga.

The one-two finish of Zanjabeel and Ice It was a duplicate of the $100,000 Foxbrook at Far Hills two weeks earlier.

Zanjabeel's win gave trainer Ricky Hendiks his 13th of the year but still left him 12 wins behind the pace (and record) setting Jack Fisher in the contest for top trainer.

Jockey Darren Nagle improved his position at the top of the rider standings when he scored with Michael A. Smith's Mercoeur in the $35,000 Noel Lang Handicap, the feature of Virginia's Montpelier Station Steeplechase for trainer Leslie Young.

One race earlier, Nagle scored his first of the day for trainer Young when Lady Blanco got home a one-length winner for owner Amy Taylor Roe in the $25,000 Montpelier Cup, a filly and mare stake run at 2-3/8 miles.

The 30-year-old Nagle scored his 17th win from 76 starts in 2017 when he got home with a powered-down win of 18 lengths astride Irvin S. Naylor's Ebanour in the $33,350 Pennsylvania Hunt Cup.

The win for Ebanour in the 4-mile timber contest over 22 fences in Chester Country's fox hunting country was the Irish-bred gelding's second straight.

With only the Steeplechase of Charleston at Hollywood, S.C. on the fixture card, here are the win-place-show standings for the equine and human year-end awards offered by the N.S.A.
