PISCATAWAY, NJ - For the first time in their history in the National Football League, the New York Jets moved their annual Green and White team scrimmage from their summer training environment to Piscataway. The Jets caravan performed in front of a few thousand loyalists at HighPoint Solutions Stadium on the campus of Rutgers University this past weekend. Their traditional site, MetLife Stadium, was occupied that night by the Jay Z/Beyonce tour stop that evening.

The festivities started off with a FanFest outside the stadium. Fans attending early were able to purchase Jets gear, play with inflatables, and meet members of the Jets Alumni. In addition, fans were treated to a performance of Jets Flight Crew, their in-house cheerleaders’ squad.

Once the stadium was opened, Jets fans converged on the lower level with their green flags that were distributed by team representatives.

The sea of green watched a two-hour practice session that featured first round draft choice (#3 overall from USC) Sam Darnold and his efforts to gain this year’s starting quarterback position with the team. Darnold and the other quarterback candidates wore red jerseys, for the team to avoid any big physical contact during the scrimmage.

Giovanni Toribio made his professional debut as a Jets running back and scored the first touchdown of his career, to the thrill of the thousands witnessing the event.

The evening ended with a huge fireworks display while members of the team piled onto their chartered buses to return to their training site.
