MILLBURN, NJ – A security officer at The Mall in Short Hills observed a black Mercedes-Benz driving erratically and nearly striking two pedestrians yesterday evening. The vehicle proceeded to drive towards the truck tunnel entrance but not before reversing and striking the mall security officer. The vehicle then fled onto JFK Parkway North.
Millburn Police Officer Michael Lanni observed the vehicle and attempted to stop it. However, the vehicle increased its speed and headed towards Livingston Township.
Officers Christopher Derosa and Anthony Cantinella were en route to the area when they became involved in a head-on crash at Livingston and Hobart Gap Rd. Millburn and Livingston emergency services arrived at the scene at approximately 8:30 p.m. Both officers were transported to Morristown Hospital with minor head and neck injuries.

The incident is under investigation by the Millburn Police Detective Bureau.
