Morristown Jazz & Blues Festival Comes to Town August 20

MORRISTOWN, NJ - The sixth year annual FREE Morristown Jazz & Blues Festival will come to the Morristown Green on Saturday, Aug. 20, with performances starting at noon and running through 10 p.m.


Thanks to the Town of Morristown and Mayor Tim Dougherty, music fans of all ages can enjoy great performances right in the heart of the county seat.

“We applaud Mayor Dougherty and festival organizers for bringing this great event to our county seat again this year. It is just another example of what makes for a great quality of life in Morris County,” said Morris County Freeholder Director Kathy DeFillippo.

Parking is available in the public lots and the train station is just a couple of blocks away.

Performers will include:

George Gee Swing Orchestra • 12:00 – 2:00
One of the best swing bands in the country, the George Gee Swing Orchestra will have you dancing with its upbeat, infectious groove. Dazzling audiences from Boston to Beverly Hills and from Zurich to Tokyo, George and his talented musicians pay tribute to the great tunes of the Swing Era.


The Bucky Pizzarelli Quartet • 2:00 – 4:00
A festival favorite, guitarist Bucky Pizzarelli will be joined by his long-time partner Ed Laub, plusAaron Weinstein on violin and son Martin on bass. The quartet will celebrate Bucky’s 90th birthday as they draw from the Great American Songbook and entertain you with great musicianship, wonderful vocals and lots of laughter.

Louis Prima Jr. and the Witnesses • 4:00 – 6:00
The only son of the incomparable Louis Prima, Louis Prima Junior has become a popular singer, songwriter and entertainer, and a regular in Las Vegas. Now, more than 30 years after the death of his famous father, Louis Junior has revitalized that legacy with a band that captures the energy, excitement and fun of his dad’s band. From “Jump, Jive, ‘An Wail” to “Just a Gigolo” the Witnesses will have everyone clapping with joy.

Quinn Sullivan • 6:00 – 8:00

Blues guitarist Quinn Sullivan may be only 16, but he has already developed a reputation as an accomplished performer thanks to his mentor Buddy Guy. His debut album hit #7 on the Billboardblues album chart and he has been featured on national television as well as in blues festivals throughout the United States, Canada and Europe.

Robert Randolph & the Family Band • 8:00 – 10:00f
Pedal steel guitarist Robert Randolph has a special relationship with Morristown, where he lived for several years as he built his reputation as a musician. Drawing on the blues and soul, Randolph has toured with artists such as Eric Clapton and Dave Mathews, and has recorded with Buddy Guy, Santana, Ringo Starr, Santana and Elton John among many others. Rolling Stone Magazine named him one of the top 100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time.

Bob Caruso (Dayton) Wins Professional Bowlers Seniors Tournament
