Playhouse 22: Shakespearean Speed-Dating Brings the Audience Onstage

Eric Hackler, Jessica Freeland, Dan Keyser play dozens of characters in this Shakespearean speed-date. Credits: Playhouse 22

EAST BRUNSWICK, NJ  -- The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (Abridged), will be playing at Playhouse 22 from April 28 - May 7, as part of the theater's "On The Edge" series.

The Complete Works is a comedy by Adam Long, Daniel Singer and Jess Winfield, that parodies the plays of William Shakespeare with all of them being performed (in comically shortened or merged form) by only three actors. Presented in the theater's Studio Theater at Playhouse 22, the "On the Edge" series is an opportunity for directors to present lesser known or smaller works that might not be suited to a full-scale production. The emphasis is on the play and the acting, not costumes, props or special effects. The shows are presented with the audience on the stage, right in the middle of the action, allowing a ringside view as the story unfolds around them.

Playhouse 22's production is directed by Jennifer Moffett.

Rutgers voices support for proposed state budget

March 14, 2018

NEW BRUNSWICK - Rutgers University officials have often been wary of the governor's annual budget message, wondering what type of budget cuts the university may sustain and how it would potentially impact tuition and the overall quality of education.

This budget message, delivered March 13, appears to be a sigh of relief.

In Cold Blood by Truman Capote

In Cold Blood by Truman Capote (Random House, 1965)

In Cold Blood is, quite simply, the grand-daddy of true crime writing, dubbed by Capote, himself, as the first non-fiction novel (although Norman Mailer argued the point when he published The Executioner's Song in 1979.) The conditions under which I read In Cold Blood for the first time were pretty weird, which was another ...

WASHINGTON, D.C., March 16, 2018 – Despite her rhetoric, U.S. Rep. Bonnie Watson Coleman, D-12, failed Wednesday to deliver on her promise to make schools safer for our children.

The two-term congressperson was one of only 10 representatives that voted “nay” Wednesday afternoon on the STOP School Violence Act of 2018.

The bill passed the U.S. House of Representatives on a ...
