SOUTH BRUNSWICK, NJ – Police said Sunday that Saturday night’s fire does not appear to be electrical in nature.
Firefighters from Monmouth Junction, Kendall Park and Kingston responded with police to the fast food restaurant on Route 1 and Major Road at 8:21 p.m. Saturday night on the report of an outside fire, police said in a press release Sunday.
According to police, arriving units found fire extending to an exterior wall of the building and contained it in about 10 minutes.
“It took 25 firefighters about 10 minutes to get to the seat of the fire and bring it under control.” Firefighters remained on scene until 11 p.m.,” Monmouth Junction Fire Chief Scott Smith said in the release.
Patrons and employees evacuated the building before emergency crews arrived on the scene, police said.
A preliminary investigation indicates that the fire was not electrical in nature, as was previously reported, and is not suspicious, police said.
The South Brunswick Health Department went to the scene and closed the restaurant pending an inspection, police said.
