SOUTH BRUNSWICK, NJ - The Education Foundation of South Brunswick Township, Inc., held its annual “Taste of South Brunswick” fundraiser Monday night at the Doubletree Hotel on Route 1.

The evening, which is the group’s largest fundraising event of the year, features tasty morsels from area restaurants and wineries and honors two outstanding South Brunswick High School alumni.

Foundation President Martin Abschutz said that the organization has returned more than $80,000 in grants and scholarships to district students and teachers during the last several years, and is hoping to expand as time goes on.

This year’s SBHS alumni honorees were Presiding Municipal Court Judge Michael Dowgin and SBHS Assistant Principal April Gonzalez.

Police: Stolen Battery Scam Short-Circuits in Roxbury

ROXBURY, NJ - Two men who scammed Walmart stores in several states - by returning for money batteries that were stolen - were caught and arrested earlier this month when they attempted the scheme in Ledgewood, police said today.

A third man purportedly involved in the practice was on the lam, but police said they know his identity and expect to find him.
