SOUTH BRUNSWICK, NJ – The township honored its veterans during the annual Veterans’ Day ceremony at the municipal building Friday.

Representatives from both the American Legion Post 401 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 9111 joined local elected officials and state assemblymen Jack Ciatarelli, R-16, and Andrew Zwicker, D-16, as well as the South Brunswick High School Marching Band for the ceremony in front of the municipal building on Route 522.

Originally called Armistice Day, the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month marked the end of the first World War in 1917 when hostilities ceased.

The holiday was later changed to include all veterans.
