The crash impact spun both cars around, sending the white sedan across the lanes of New Road, and the grey sedan crushed up against the concrete barrier in the left northbound lane of Route 1.

Six people were transported to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick by ambulances from South Brunswick, Plainsboro and North Brunswick, police said.

The Texas family traveled from upstate New York to visit relatives on New Road east of Route 1, police said.

Police have not released any of the identities of those involved at this time.

The investigation into the crash continues with the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office taking the lead, police said.
