SOUTH BRUNSWICK, NJ – A Federal Express delivery truck was the only serious casualty after it caught fire in a Melrich Road warehouse Tuesday night, police said.

According to police, the Monmouth Junction Fire Department was dispatched to the FedEx warehouse at 114 Melrich Road for a fire alarm activation 10:22 p.m. Tuesday night.

The alarm company reported a truck fire inside the building to the responding units as they traveled to the scene, police said.

Police said firefighters searched through a heavy smoke condition in the warehouse and located a box truck with the cab and engine compartment on fire.

Firefighters were able to confine the fire to the single truck with no extension to the building, police said.

Responding to the scene were the Monmouth Junction Fire Department, Cranbury Fire Company, Kendall Park Fire Company, Kingston Fire Company, North Brunswick Fire Company #2, Monmouth Junction First Aid Squad, and South Brunswick Police.

There were no injuries and the fire is under investigation by the South Brunswick Township Fire Safety Bureau, police said.
