SOUTH BRUNSWICK, NJ – The South Brunswick Vikings showed no mercy as they manhandled the Hunterdon Central Red Devils 46-7 to win the State Championship quarterfinal playoff game Friday night.

After a long Hunterdon kick return and productive opening drive, culminating in a four-yard touchdown run by Blake Leeds, the Red Devils went quietly into the night as the Vikings offense amassed 46 unanswered points.

It was the usual suspects for South Brunswick as the Vikings scored 20 points in both the first and second quarters.

The Viking offense showed its diversity including Mohamed Jabbie with 63-yard and 21-yard pass receptions for two scores, running backs Wendell Allen and Jaier Garett scoring from 21 and 20 yards respectively, quarterback Josh Liao running one in from three yards out, and a 75-yard Jabbie punt run back to the house.

Justin Shorter wrapped up the Vikings scoring with a 20-yard pass reception for a score in the third quarter.

The Red Devils, on the other hand, could not get out of their own way, turning the ball back to the Vikings on fourth down numerous times.

Even some Viking miscues, including a couple of personal fouls for late hits out of bounds, did not allow the Red Devils to score.

The Vikings will play the semifinal game in the tournament next Friday night at 7 p.m. at the high school on Ridge Road.

They will face the winner of Saturday afternoon’s matchup between Manalapan and Trenton, scheduled for 1 p.m.
