A nearby officer saw the vehicle and attempted to stop it as it headed north on Route 1, police said.

While checking the license plate of the vehicle, police learned that it was reported stolen out of Franklin Township on Halloween.

The car finally crashed into a police vehicle in the Royal Oaks apartment complex at Route 1 and Henderson Road where the three individuals got out of the car and fled on foot, police said.

Units from Franklin and North Brunswick are assisting with the search as well as a K-9 unit from the Mercer County Sheriff's Office, police said.

Officers have a perimeter set up between the apartment complex and Deans Lane and believe they have the suspects contained in that area, police said.
