SOUTH BRUNSWICK, NJ – The East Brunswick Bears Girls Soccer Team shutout Bishop Ahr Thursday 3-0 to move to the Greater Middlesex Conference title game this weekend.
The Bears went all out, scoring twice in the first half and once in the second to blank Bishop.
East Brunswick’s Jessica DiMatteo scored twice and had one assist, Sabrina Glasgow scored and Katrina Nguyen-Demary contributed an assist in the victory.
“We are happy to be where we are,” Coach Kevin Brady said after the game. “We beat a very good Bishop Ahr team that we have played at different times of the year. They have one of the best players in the state.”
Brady gave credit to his defenders who “did an excellent job in the middle of the field.”
“I was very proud of our defensive organization and effort,” he said.
East Brunswick will play South Brunswick, who defeated Monroe on Thursday in a defensive battle that was tied at 1-1 through two overtime periods.
The Vikings finally took the game on penalty kicks.
The two will meet in Woodbridge on Saturday in the GMC finals.
