SOUTH BRUNSWICK, NJ - A new Aldi has officially opened its doors in the Monmouth Junction section of South Brunswick, located at the shopping plaza at 4180 on Route 1. Customers lined up outside, while standing six feet apart from one another, to be the first ones inside the new grocery store. Customers say they have been waiting to see the new Aldi for several months, one woman at the front of the line said she had been waiting since 7:00 AM.

            The spacious new store, formerly a Best Buy, contains select items that are only provided at Aldi. Residents can make bulk purchases of food, get the hottest toys for the holidays or buy any common household items. Currently, there are over 50 Aldi locations in New Jersey according to the company website.

            “ALDI is different by design, and everything we do is to offer our shoppers the lowest prices possible, every day,” said ALDI Center Valley Division Vice President Bob Grammer in an email, “Whether it’s our thoughtful store layout, vast selection of award-winning private-label products or how we merchandise our goods, our primary goal is to create savings and pass them along, which allows us to provide the groceries shoppers want at unbeatable prices.”

            Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, all Aldi locations have adopted guidelines to protect employees and shoppers. Face coverings are required to enter the store, hand sanitizer will be available and all lines must adhere to social distancing guidelines.

            “This pandemic has reinforced how much consumers rely on us for their grocery needs, and we’re proud to support millions of people across the country with fresh groceries and household essentials at the lowest possible prices,” said Mr. Grammar, “As an essential business, we take our commitment to serving communities very seriously, and opening new stores enables us to reach, serve and support even more customers.”

            The new South Brunswick location has employed nearly 20 people with ‘highly competitive wages and industry benefits’, according to Mr. Grammar. The new location still has positions to fill, to view job openings click here.

            Aldi stores teams up with farmers and growers throughout the US to provide the freshest produce possible. The store says that they source locally whenever possible.
