MONMOUTH JUNCTION, NJ - The South Brunswick Police Department is holding Operation Takeback on Saturday, October 24 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Residents can drop off unused or expired medications during the four-hour timeframe. Syringes and sharp instruments will not be accepted. Liquid medicines are accepted, but caps should be closed firmly. People can dispose of any medication in its original container or by taking the medications out of the container and placing it directly in the drug disposal box. If using the original container, people should remove the prescription label first.
Operation Take Back was developed by the United States Drug Enforcement Agency to give citizens a safe option to dispose of their unwanted and unused medications. Officers collect the medications and then discard them in an environmentally safe manner.
The South Brunswick Police Department is located at 540 Ridge Road. Masks are required to enter the building to drop off medications for Operation Takeback.
