HOLMDEL, NJ -- Junior Vidhur Polam of South Brunswick placed fifth among all runners in Group 4 in the NJSIAA Group Championships cross-country meet on Saturday.

Polam ran the race in a time of 16:17, which was 28 seconds shy of the winning time of 15:49 by Jackson Braddock of Southern Regional. Polam came in fifth among 151 Group 4 runners in the statewide meet.

While Polam was the only runner in the boys' race, the South Brunswick girls' cross-country team finished sixth out of 20 teams entered in the Group 4 race. All seven of their runners finished in the top 90, led by senior Cassandra Vega with a time of 20:12.

The rest of the South Brunswick girls contributing to the team's sixth-place finish: Yashika Chidirala (20:35), Sanjana Raj (20:40), Srinidhi Gopalan (20:41), Liann Zyontz (20:48), Sophia Milla (20:54) and Nina Liu (21:11).
