SOUTH BRUNSWICK, NJ - The string of car burglaries in South Brunswick Township continue this week as the South Brunswick Police Department urges residents to remember to lock their vehicles. The SBPD is seeking surveillance or home security videos from the Timber Ponds and Beekman Manor developments on Thursday, January 16 from 2 a.m. to 5 a.m.

Since the start of the New Year, the township has been plagued with a rash of car burglaries targeting unlocked vehicles. None of the vehicles involved were damaged, but articles such as small electronics, money and wallets have been stolen. More than a dozen incidents have been reported to the South Brunswick Police Department since January 5. The burglaries have happened in different locations throughout the township.

Residents with home security videos showing suspicious activity in the early morning hours of January 16 from Timber Ponds or Beekman Manor are asked to contact Detective Shelcusky at 732-329-4646.

The South Brunswick Police Department offers the following safety tips to help avoid becoming a victim:

  • Always lock parked vehicles
  • Close and lock garage doors
  • Do not leave fobs inside an unlocked car
  • Do not leave valuables such as laptops, wallets and other small electronic devices inside vehicles
  • Do not leave cash or money inside vehicles
  • If possible, park vehicles in well lighted areas
